in my snakeskin boots, traveling west to texas

I’ve never been to Texas, so my knowledge on the State is based on second-hand accounts or online source material. My inspiration taking a nod from old western flicks when it was once a wild land. Essentially for myself, traveling west to Texas from my home is discovering new lands like they once did in the Wild West.

Curated by Artist Uprising.

Installation at the Spectrum Center in Addison, Texas.

Completed at the end of 2023, it was a significant undertaking for myself. Thanks to the stellar team at Artist Uprising, the drafting, revision, and note-taking process went incredibly smoothly. Here are a few of the notes I made for the initial pitches.

To compensate for my lack of wall space, I divided the sections into 10ft panels that would later be layered during the installation. I couldn’t even fit the whole thing in the picture.

Even before starting the piece, digital renditions of the work were created for approval and finalization. The challenge of creating this was significant, but it was an eye-opening process to follow.

With all that being said, breaking into the commercial/corporate art sector was a truly gratifying experience. Many thanks to Artist Uprising for believing in my practice, ideas, and dedication to creating something exceptional. Their eye for curation is unmatched. If you're in the area, be sure to drop by and explore the artwork

You are LITERALLY the most delightful person to work with!

Artist Uprising fosters an environment not only for the success of the artist but also to really elevate their portfolio with a high level of professionalism. Projects like these, supported and curated by AU, really position the artist to excel past the closing of the commission. I would not have wanted to break into this sector of art with anyone but AU. They have my many thanks for really inspiring me to keep forward with an elevation mindset.
